| Laika is a strong subject in my work. This painting marks the anniversary of her death on the 3rd of November 1957 when she became the first living creature to be launched into space on board Sputnik 2. There was never a return option for Laika and she died of overheating and stress. This painting is a tribute to her sacrifice. |
